Gallery 88.1 Editions – Artist Agreement

Between Gallery 881 / PrintMaker Studio and the Artist

This agreement outlines the terms between Gallery 881 and PrintMaker Studio (together, “the Gallery/Studio”) and the participating artist (“the Artist”) regarding participation in the Gallery 88.1 Editions project.

1. Project Overview

Gallery 88.1 Editions is a curated limited edition print series produced by Gallery 881 and PrintMaker Studio. The project supports contemporary lens-based artists and connects them with collectors through high-quality, affordable, editioned prints.

2. Edition Details

• Each participating artist contributes one image to be printed in an edition of 88 numbered prints, plus one Artist Proof (AP).

• The AP is produced at no cost to the artist and is used for promotion and to confirm final print quality.

• Initial retail price per print is approximately $200. Prices are subject to change based on market conditions or promotional adjustments.

• All prints are produced on archival paper by PrintMaker Studio, with paper type and size determined in consultation with the artist.

• The maximum image size is an area of no more than 216 square inches, and no single dimension may exceed 19 inches in width (e.g., 12" × 18"). The print also includes a 1/2” border.

3. Edition Exclusivity

The Artist agrees that the edition created for Gallery 88.1 Editions is exclusive in its final form, including size, paper type, and presentation.
The Artist will not reproduce or authorize any additional editions of the same image in the same or substantially similar size, material, or format.

4. Print Marking and Authenticity

Each print is hand-numbered (e.g., 1/88) and stamped on the reverse with the official Gallery 881 Certificate of Authenticity.

5. Sales and Commission

• Sales revenue is split 50/50 between the Artist and Gallery.

• Gallery 881 members receive a 10% discount on print purchases; this discount is shared proportionally between the Artist and Gallery.

• The Artist’s share is subject to a production deduction equivalent to PrintMaker Studio’s standard rate for that paper and size, less 20%.

• Print pricing is based on current rates published at www.printmaker-studio.com for the full print size including borders.

Example:
If the print cost is $50, the artist's deduction is $40. From a $200 sale, the Artist receives $100 - $40 = $65.

6. Promotion

The edition will be promoted through:

• Social media accounts of Gallery 881, PrintMaker Studio, and Gallery 88.1 Editions

• The Gallery 881 Newsletter

• Website and in-gallery visibility

The Artist is encouraged to promote the edition independently as well.

7. Fulfillment and Shipping

PrintMaker Studio manages all fulfillment, including printing, packaging, and customer service.
Buyers are responsible for shipping costs. These are not deducted from the Artist’s commission.

8. Payment Terms

The Artist will be paid monthly, no later than 30 days after the end of each month in which a sale occurs. Payment will include a sales summary and applicable deductions.

9. Production Control and Artist Proof

The Artist Proof is used to confirm final print quality. No changes may be made to the edition once the AP is approved unless both parties agree in writing.

10. Copyright and Licensing

The Artist retains full copyright to their image. The Gallery and PrintMaker Studio are granted a non-exclusive license to use the image for promotional purposes related to Gallery 88.1 Editions.

11. Edition Closure

The edition is sold on demand until all 88 prints are sold. Once all prints have been sold, the edition is considered closed and no further prints will be produced. Edition #1 of 88 is provided to the Artist at no cost. The Artist Proof (AP) remains the property of Gallery 881 / PrintMaker Studio and may be used for promotional, archival, or display purposes.

12. Force Majeure

Neither party shall be held liable for delays or non-performance due to circumstances beyond their control, including but not limited to natural disasters, war, pandemics, or government restrictions.

13. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement with 30 days’ written notice, provided there are no outstanding obligations. All sold edition numbers remain valid and binding.

14. Governing Law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada.
